Frome Town 6, Bridgwater Town 0

By Eddie Robinson Bridgwater made the worst possible start at Frome, going two goals down in three minutes and conceded a further two goals by the eleventh minute to put the game well out of their reach.

Evans, a lively striker throughout, reacted sharply to a left wing cross to convert from close range inside a minute.

Central defender Cheeseman, up for the game's first corner, powered home a header, but it had been a needlessly conceded corner.

More poor defending saw Frome claim a third goal on eight minutes, and three minutes later Thomson seized on a weak defensive header to fire home number four with a good first-time shot.

On 15 minutes, a quickly taken freekick by Kingston sent Young clear and his 25yard shot brushed across the goal - a rare threat to the home goal from the one player to earn the plaudits of the travelling supporters during the game.

The remainder of the half saw the teams more evenly matched and one neat attack involving Robertson, Ford and Young ended with Kenny's shot in charge down.

All too often Bridgwater's defensive clearances fell to Frome players as their midfielders were always second best to the loose ball.

It was no real surprise when Frome added a fifth on 37 minutes. Allison skipped past Snook once again and his pinpoint centre enabled Evans to head home.

Five down at the interval from five attempts, Buckingham had had no chance with any of the goals such was the clinical nature of Frome's finishing.

Bridgwater rang the changes in the second half introducing Bailey and Parsons in an attempt to stiffen the defence.

Even so, twice needed goal line clearances to prevent further goals when right wing corners caused havoc in front of Buckingham. The only goal of the second half was claimed on 65 minutes with questions being asked over the defending, which lead to a free kick just outside the penalty area, which was well-struck past the keeper by the impressive Thomson.

Frome could afford to take off dangermen Evans and Allison and only wasteful finishing prevented them from adding to the score.

Bridgwater's one moment of defiance came from a mazey run from Kenny who was eventually crowded out.
