Bridgwater kept Taunton penned in their own half for much of this game but did not take the lead until the half-hour mark, when Paul Triggol scored the first of his two tries.
Jonathan Frost converted and Bridgwater led 7-0 at the break.
Taunton scored a penalty ten minutes into the second half to reduce the deficit before Triggol got his second score with ten minutes to play.
Frost missed the conversion, but then wrapped up the match himself, jinking past several opponents to score under the posts, before adding the extras.
Next week Bridgwater are at home to Wells.
Their nearest rivals, Wellington 2nds, kept up the pressure by trouncing basement side Martock 82-0.
Bridgwater team: Jamie Coates, Richard Willis, Matt House, Paul Triggol, Dan Lang, Jonathan Frost, Roger Drabble, Nick Ball, Dave Norman (captain), Damian Walker, Russ Wogan, Doug Page-Simmons, Lee Stanley, Barry Hobbs, Chris Hicks.
