A PROMISING young boxer from Bridgwater has secured an impressive victory over a competitor five years older.
17-year-old Karina Webster, from Rhode Lane, beat 22-year-old Maisie Wake by a unanimous points decision in Exmouth on Friday.
Karina's nerves were brushed aside as she threw the first punch and moved around the ring well.
Wake tried rushing Webster by coming forward but her young opponent threw straight combos, knocking her head back every time.
Karina was told by her coach Rob Haddon to move around the ring, stepping in and out to catch Wake and try not to get herself caught.
Karina proved to be too fast for Wake as the referee gave Wake another standing count following a good punching move.
After the three rounds, the judges awarded the fight to Karina and coach Rob Haddon said it was a pleasure to be in her corner.
