Bridgwater keep the faith

“WE will never give up hope” - that is the message coming loud and clear from Bridgwater and Albion's new head coach after glimpses of promise in Saturday's match.

Bridgwater faced Henley away for their first game with Nick Hill taking hold of the ropes, but despite a 24-12 loss, the team are determined to battle forward in the remainder of the season.

Hill said: “On Saturday we played some of they best rugby we have played for some time. The spirit we have got together now is great - we will fight hard and will get out of this. I am hopeful and will never give up hope.”

With no game next week, the club now has two training sessions to pull back the belief in themselves they need to grab hold of some much-needed points.

Hill said: “Our confidence is not high. We really need to instil confidence in the players and be more clinical in some areas of play.

“We could not be in a more difficult position, so the support given to us by everyone who comes to watch the games is very much appreciated.

“Henley was a very difficult place to go, but I can not knock the effort by the lads.”

In the second half, Hill swapped Liam Chennells and Matt Richards and things started to look up.

He added: “After a few position swaps, we won the second half of the game. We had some clear-cut chances and they were only in our half twice - but scored both times. If we work on our confidence and come out fighting - there is hope.”

Bridgwater will face Worthing at home on November 28.
