NETHER Stowey Junior Football Club has a new chairman.

Karen May was appointed at the club’s annual meeting.

She said: “I am proud to have been voted to serve such a friendly, successful, growing club. The committee are keen to keep building and progressing the club.

“We are lucky to have one of the best pitches in Somerset to play on and have been fortunate enough to receive the support of different local businesses.”

She thanked kit sponsors, The George Hotel in Nether Stowey, and added: “We have a dedicated bunch of players who we take great joy in seeing improve year on year and are always keen to sign up others wishing to play for the club.”

The club will field more teams in the coming youth season than ever before, and has nearly completed all the requirements for FA Charter Standard Status.

This year the junior club is likely to merge with the senior team – the newly formed club would take players from age five to adult.

The club is also looking forward to an extension of its facilities with a new clubhouse and an all-weather area.

Training takes place on Saturday mornings at Nether Stowey playing field and will be restarting in August.

Anyone interested in joining the club can call Jason on 01278-733534 or Dave on 01278-732898.
