ONLY two teams in the whole of the Bridgwater and District Summer Skittles League are unbeaten after eight weeks of the season.
One is the Gentle Giants in the Men’s Premier Division, although they had a narrow escape in their match at Slades.
The lead throughout the match was never more than three pins, firstly after three hands by the Giants and after five by the hosts who left the visitors 53 to win.
Steve Howe hit a 14 and the first five totalled 45, leaving Ryan Morgan to get eight or more to win.
He had an eight, giving the Giants a one-pin win putting them six points clear at the top.
The Limeys jump two places to second after a never-headed 20 pin away success at Old Teasers who drop to joint third with Slades and Folly Boys who won by three at home to Gamblers who move down one place to seventh.
The Daydreamers got their first points of the season with a 12-pin ‘away’ win over their alleymates Union Jacks and are up to eighth.
The wanderers drop to ninth after being beaten at Fireworks, who climb to sixth, by 30 pins.
Five O’Clockers are clear leaders of the Men’s Early Division after a 29-pin victory at Riff Raff who drop a place to fourth.
Playboys drop to second after going down by 23 at home to Bunch of Key’s who go third.
Although the Outs and Ins won by 50 at home to Chidgey the Claw they stay fifth.
The Police Academy with an ‘away’ win by 17 over alleymates Thirsty Camels move up one place to sixth.
The Men’s Main Division is being led by Pawlett Pins who won at home by 62 against Withy Flyers who drop to fourth.
The Stormers go clear second after a 14-pin away success over Cannington Chemistry who drop to eighth.
New Market Hotel are a point behind in third after a ten-pin win at home to Lion Cubs who remain fifth and Withy Boys lost at home to Team Epic by 11 pins.
Although both teams won, the Shunters have pulled level on points with Mixtures at the top of the Mixed Brunettes Division, as they won by six at Neighbours, who drop one place.
The Mixtures won by 50 at home to Pointless Parretts, pulling pins on every hand except one, in a match played three weeks earlier.
The Mad Hatters drop to joint third after losing on the last hand by one at home to The Clan, who were left 46 to win.
Faux Pas are also joint third as they picked up three points when beating Crown Legends by 14, together with the Railway Six who had a 32 pin home victory over Nam Nuts.
In the Mixed Cornhill Division, the top two teams from the previous week both had byes allowing Scorchers to catch second place Commercial A on 13 points by winning by 46 at Misfits.
They themselves have been caught by Jacks and Jills who were successful at home by 20 over Scoobies who remain at the bottom.
The Sagalouts and King’s Head change places as the former beat the latter by 34 at home.
The other unbeaten team is in the Mixed Bluebell Division as the Trumpeters move four points clear with a nine-pin victory at Wish We Waz who drop a place.
The Globetrotters remain second as they beat The Tribe by 60 at home in the battle of the Globes.
Third place is still held by The Snoots who won by 27 at home to Hillbilly Mixers who stay equal fourth.
Up two places to sixth goes the King Pins after being behind for the first five hands but ended with a 56, leaving the Minted Lambs 51 to win they fell well short and the home team won by 11.
The Moorlanders have pulled to within one point of the leaders Pin Pals in the mixed Blondes Division after beating them by 52 with a hand of 68 to finish and with Terree Hunt having two spares and a flopper in her 68 to top the alley by 12.
Although Chris Marks hit a 16 flopper and Karen Morris a 12 spare on the last hand, the Rebellions fell one short of the 56 needed to beat the Barmies to finish all square.
The Choppers have dropped to third as they were defeated by 20 pins at Pretenders who picked up their first points of the season.
The Vollys jump to joint fifth as they went to the Withy Revellers and came away with the card and a two-pin victory.
Four teams are level on points at the top of the Ladies Champions Division, three of whom won last week.
The previous leader, Lizzy’s Ladies were the only one to lose as they went down by 9 at Market Maids, who join them together with Mo’s Gems, last years winners, who won by 2 at home to Legion Ladies who drop to eighth and Poppy Girls who defeated visitors Bill’s Bunch by 15.
No Hopers are up to sixth after winning by eight at Slippers Up who remain bottom.
With the Gremlin’s Girls having a bye the Cheeky Girls remain five points clear in the Ladies Diamonds Division although they lost by 16 at home to Reformers who join the Gremlin’s in second.
Reservoir Ducks are up to fourth as they won ‘away’ to alleymates Asbo’s by 38.
Durleigh Dolls opened their account when winning by 1 at home to Nan’s Girls who were leading for the first four hands.
The Wotsits have joined Spring Chicks at the top of the Ladies Emeralds Division as they won by 35 at home to Mothers Pride and the Chicks lost by 10 to visitors El Syd who are up to joint fourth with Mothers Pride.
Flagettes are down to third after losing by 31 at Slappers.
The Nutcrackers stay sixth but by beating Vixens by 17 at home knock the visitors down one place to eighth.
End of the Line are now two points clear at the top of the Ladies Pearls Division as they won by two at The British Birds who led for the first four hands.
Sparklers are joint second now although they won by four on the last hand at home to Shove Overs, who led by 24 after three hands and are now joined by Spares who had a 31-pin success at Rockets who remain bottom.
Bobby’s Girls jump two places by beating The Boozie Birds by 22 at the White Hart.
The Ladies Rubies Division is being led by Global Girls who won by six at home to Wicked Ladies and are three points clear of the Generations who also won with a never headed 56 pins at home to Dirty Donkeys.
Third place is occupied by The Other Lot, the card for the match they were involved in has not arrived.
Bottom team Village Idiots are off the mark at last with a 14-pin home success over Geef Teeth but were 29 up with two hands to play.
