Pacemakers 106-7, Bridgwater Doctors 108-5.
ON a good but rather slow King’s Hall pitch, Sam Powell’s pace and Andrew Paisley’s leg breaks kept Pacemakers’ openers Nigel Preston (17) and Robert Adcock (12) in check, so only 32 were scored from the first eight overs.
The batsmen were under pressure to increase the run rate when Peter Reed (2-17) and Phil Barker (3-9) took over and wickets began to tumble.
Andy Nash (21) and Lee Tomkins (27) put together a useful stand to repair some of the damage and take the score past one hundred. Both batsmen perished at the death.
Pacemakers showed they could match Doctors’ catching as Keith Powell’s cracking drive over extra cover was plucked out of the air by Clarke and Ogle’s square cut off D Redgate (2-12) was well taken by Botha at point.
Justin Pepperell (12) was bowled by Martin Short (1-23) but Fergusson and Alan Dunkley steadied the ship with a controlled partnership.
Fergusson retired on 30 and Sam Powell hit 23.
Barker sealed his man-of-the-match display with two fours to secure the win with more than three overs to spare.
