North Petherton 216-5, Taunton St Andrew’s A 156-7 NORTH Petherton eased through to the third round of the SCB Minor Cup on Wednesday, mainly due to the fine batting performances of Tom Williams and Owen Irish.
The opening pair put on 145 runs in great style and in under 13 overs before Irish fell for an excellent 77.
Williams then guided the innings through to its conclusion at 216-5 as he personally finished unbeaten on 103.
Amazingly, this was Tom’s second consecutive unbeaten century in this 20-over competition.
In reply, St Andrew’s stayed with the run rate for the first 10 overs, L. Poole (53) being the pick of their batsmen.
However, St Andrews’ eventually succumbed on 156-7, 61 runs short of victory.
Ali Bunce (2-22), Adam Bere (2-27), Keith Williams (2-28) and Lewis Irish (1-15) were the wicket-takers.
Match ball sponsors were B and B Potatoes Ltd.
North Petherton are drawn at home for the next round to be played on Wednesday, July 1.
