SIXTEEN teams from around the county took part in the Biffen Open Triples organised by Victoria Park Bowling Club, Bridgwater, on a very hot day.

Each team played four games during the day with a break for a brilliant lunch organised by the ladies of Victoria Park.

Going into the final round, both triples from Long Ashton were neck-and-neck with only one point splitting the teams but it was the triple led by Eddie Russell who gained ten points to take them into the lead with 38 points, while Long Ashton’s other team managed only two points which allowed Ian Baker’s triple from Street to jump into second place with 31 points.

Victoria’s president, Paul Brandon, congratulated the members of Victoria Park for a very successful day and their organisation.

He then introduced John Biffen, of H. Biffen & Sons, Funeral Directors, who supported the event.

John also commented on the success of the day and how pleased he was to support this annual event.
