Enmore Park recently hosted two evening group lessons for a number of boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14 years old, who are members of the Wembdon Scout troop.

Assistant professional David Wixon said: “The first week they were introduced to 7 iron swings with a fun long drive competition to finish, while the second week was spent chipping into umbrellas and then driving.

“Everyone enjoyed the sessions and despite England playing in the first week, we still had 19 come long and they all had a good time.

“There were some talented youngsters and hopefully some will attend Saturday morning sessions or come up with family to give golf a go.”

Saturday saw Enmore Park host a Gents Invitation 4BBB, and it was the pairing of Adam Wright and Dave Wright who came out on top with a nett 47.

They were followed by four pairings on nett 44, with Peter Sherry and Phil Spooner getting the nod for second place, and Chris Marsh and Bob Trott third.

This week’s club night was a Texas Scramble format, with Taylor Stote and Tony and Sam Stroud Lewis coming first with an impressive gross 60 (nett 58.3).

He now advances to the Pro Am format at Burnham & Berrow next month.

It was tight at the top in the ladies’ Monthly Medal, with three players tied on nett 73; after countback, Wendy White was first, with Melanie Millar second and Angie Bowden third.

The Packer Trophy took place on Sunday, with one adult and a junior playing a 4BBB format.

Joe Young and Keith Jarvis won with an amazing 49 points, while father and son Harry and Oli Beynon were second with 45.

Enmore Park’s Avalon League seniors travelled to Bristol & Clifton for what is always a popular fixture, and they came away with a fantastic away win, by six matches to two.

And, with the prolonged lack of rain continuing, Enmore seniors welcomed their near neighbours from Oake Manor and kept up their recent good form with a fine win, by 5½ matches to 2½.
