SOMERSET spinner Dom Bess was introduced to Test cricket by an England collapse against Pakistan at Lord's.

Having been awarded his cap by fellow Somerset and England off-spinner Vic Marks (the pair even both attended the same school, Blundell's), Bess entered the fray at 168-6 to join Jos Buttler.

He lost the company of Buttler just two balls later, as he edged to first slip on 14, and Bess got off the mark with a single before flicking through mid-wicket for his first boundary - described as "the shot of the day" by Phil Tufnell on the BBC's Test Match Special.

Bess fell to his next delivery, however, and England subsided to 184 all out. Alastair Cook top-scored with 70, but only three other batsmen made it into double figures against a probing Pakistan attack.

Stuart Broad took an early wicket in reply - click here for an up to date scorecard.
