BRIDGWATER Town co-manager Dave Pearse wants his players to reward their loyal supporters with a good performance in their final home league game of the season today against Cadbury Heath (ko 3pm).

In the last week, the Robins have faced two of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division's best sides, drawing 1-1 at home to Bradford Town on Tuesday and losing 1-0 at Melksham Town on Thursday.

On the first game, Pearse said: "Bradford are trying to get promoted to the Southern League; they came out with a bright start, but we defended well, so their only goal was an outstanding one - a goal to win any game.

"In the second half we were all over them; the team has really upped its work rate in the last couple of games."

The Robins had two men sent off in the Melksham game, and Pearse said: "The first one [Lee Begg's] was unlucky, it's a high foot, but their player has run into Lee, so I think a straight red card was harsh.

"[Tyne Govier's] red was for a stamp; it was stupid, and I have no complaint.

"We could've been three or four up in the game, we hit the post, but one set-piece did for us, and once we were down to nine men there was no coming back.

"But it was a really encouraging performance."

The results have seen Bridgwater slip from sixth to eighth place in the table, with Pearse adding: "It's annoying to have played so well this week; if we'd done that the week before we'd still be sixth!

"The inconsistency is frustrating, but it's something to learn from for next season."

Today's opponents are third from bottom in the table, and the Robins won the reverse fixture 4-0, but Pearse won't be taking them lightly at Fairfax Park.

"They beat Willand Rovers and haven't lost in three; they've got three good strikers who will always get goals," he said.

"If we play like we have in our last three games, we should win this one, but we have to keep up the level of performance.

"Our fans have been fantastic this season, home and away, so I hope we can finish with a home league win and make a final push for sixth."

Bridgwater Town are running a 'Pay what you want' day for today's game, so will certainly be hoping for a good crowd for this home league finale.
