Bitton 3, Bridgwater Town 1

BRIDGWATER Town striker Jack Taylor scored and was later sent off as the Robins slipped to a third league defeat on the spin at Bitton on Saturday.

Town were keen for a response after a disappointing derby defeat at Wellington last Friday and they created the first chance, Taylor firing wide on six minutes.

Bitton fought back and found the breakthrough midway through the first half, with Joe McClennan finishing off a good team move.

The lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time through Ben Lewis as Town offered little in the way of a response either side of the break.

A 66th-minute penalty from Ibrahima Diallo sealed the points for Bitton, with Taylor firing home a consolation from Tom Llewellyn's cross before picking up a second yellow card late on.

Bridgwater had the better of the closing stages despite being a man light, but they couldn't narrow the deficit.

Town remain sixth, though they are now just three points ahead of Shepton Mallet going into next Saturday's tough home game against Melksham Town.
