SOMERSET bowler Craig Overton has been called up to the England Lions squad for a one-day series against South Africa A next month.

The Lions, captained by James Vince of Hampshire, face the South Africans in three matches on June 1 (Trent Bridge), June 3 (Northampton) and June 5 (Northampton).

That means that Overton will miss Somerset's County Championship clash with Middlesex at Lord's (June 2-5).

Overton was named in the Lions four-day and one-day squads for their tour of Sri Lanka in February and March, smashing 60 off 45 balls in the first ODI.

The Lions also play a four-day game against South Africa A (June 21-24), and then a three-day match against the senior South Africa tourists in (June 29-July 1), with squads for those matches to be named next month.
