BRIDGWATER Town manager Dave Pearse is hoping his side can end a difficult season on a high when they entertain Yate Town at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

The Robins have won just twice in 41 league games so far and sit rock bottom of the table with 10 points to their name, but Pearse saw signs of encouragement in the 1-0 defeat at Paulton Rovers on Easter Monday.

“We should have won the game and, to be honest, we were completely robbed,” Pearse said.

“There has been a few games since I took over where, if we had been more clinical, we would have won, and Monday was certainly one of those.

“It was the best we have played since I’ve been at the club, but if you don’t take your chances then you won’t win matches.”

Yate have struggled themselves this season and lie in 18th going into this weekend’s match, with Pearse set to retain faith in the team that played at Paulton.

“It will be pretty much the same squad,” he confirmed.

“Everyone in the matchday squad will get some game time – I might even give myself 15 minutes – and I may call up a couple more from the Reserves to give them the opportunity to play.”

Meanwhile, the announcement regarding the appointment of Bridgwater’s new manager has been pushed back to next week.
