THE Motorsport Team at Bridgwater & Taunton College were able to reflect on an outstanding 2016 as they were crowned OSS Overall Champions at the BRSCC Awards Evening held at the Crowne Plaza, Stratford-upon-Avon.
The award was presented to the team by Peter Daly, BRSCC (British Racing & Sports Car Club) director, at the prestigious event after a 14-race season that was dominated by the team.
The College’s race car, a Class C Radical PR6, topped the podium by winning 10 races across famous racetracks including Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Rockingham.
Alongside this, driver and course leader Josh Smith set three new lap records along the way.
The student-led crew, who are studying or have recently graduated from the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering, oversee all aspects of the process, from car preparation, chassis set-up and data logging to the running of the car on race day.
Reflecting on the season, Smith said: “It was an amazing effort by the whole team and an extremely proud moment, both as the driver and course leader.
“We are busy preparing the car for the 2017 season, which kicks off at Silverstone on 27 May, and hope to retain our title.”
