BRIDGWATER Town manager Phil Hucker has told the Mercury that he plans to hand two youngsters their debuts in the match with Winchester City tomorrow (ko 3pm).

Hucker stated upon his arrival at Fairfax Park last week that bringing through youth would be a priority between now and the end of the season, and so far he is following up on that promise.

"We have two young lads from the Under-18s ready to play for the first time as well as Harry Hamblin, who has featured already," he said.

"The club and I are on the same page - we want to bring through youth as much as possible and give these players experience in senior football."

Hucker's first game in charge ended in chaos after a reported brawl which caused the referee to abandon Tuesday's match against Larkhall Athletic with five minutes to play, but prior to that the new boss was pleased with what he saw.

"Overall I was impressed," he said.

"We had good options going forward and made Larkhall play a different way.

"It was unforced errors which cost us, and at this level you will not get away with those sort of mistakes."

Town were 4-0 down on Tuesday when the match was abandoned and the Robins remain bottom of the table ahead of the visit of Winchester, who are chasing a play-off place.

Hucker, however, is remaining defiant about his team's chances.

"We will approach tomorrow in the same way we would any other game.

"I have a full squad to pick from - with no suspensions - so we look forward to welcoming Winchester.

"Tuesday is gone now and we have to put that behind us.

"If we can take the best parts of Tuesday and cut out the errors I believe we have a chance on Saturday."
