BRIDGWATER & Albion head coach Simon Morrell is certainly not underestimating bottom club Chard, who visit College Way on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

The South Somerset side are yet to win a game this season and last time out were beaten at home by Matson 22-33.

Looking ahead to the match, Morrell said: “Chard have recruited several South Africans who by all accounts will be available for the fixture with us on Saturday.

“Presumably, there is a plan at Chard and they want to stay in South West One (West) so they could well be fairly strong for when they visit us at the weekend.”

Morrell talked about how his side has been developing over the last few weeks.

“The big shift over three or four weeks ago has been that we can look at individual contributions by making use of the match day data and this has really helped everyone with setting personal targets and taking ownership of their own performances which is where we need to get.

“Each player now gets very good feedback every week and we have had regular sessions so far and the boys are working very hard, because they can get a lot better and that is what we are really focusing on.

“The quality of the opposition changes each week but we need to make sure that we build on our performances every week as well.”

He went on: “Chard will push is in areas where are potentially still developing our game.

"I don't think we are anywhere near where we need to be in the forwards and Chard are renowned for being really strong at the set so that will be a really good test for us.

“We certainly wont be taking anything for granted and the boys will be working hard in our training sessions this week to make sure that we get the win that we want from this game.”

The head coach paid tribute to the Albion’s long suffering and loyal fans.

“Our fans have been very supportive and have stuck with us which is much appreciated by everyone out on the field, and it has been a bit of a turbulent season so far, and it's probably a shame that our best performance was on the road last time out.

“We hope that we can pick up where we left off at Kingsbridge and put on a performance that our own fans can be proud of.”

Saturday’s crowd at College Way will be swollen by the 200 guests attending the Friends of Bridgwater and Albion Rugby Club that is taking place in the clubhouse beforehand.
