OVER Stowey Cricket Club members and well-wishers gathered at Over Stowey Village Hall to celebrate another successful and enjoyable season.

With 80 guests in attendance, a mixture of players, players’ wives and girlfriends, vice-presidents and sponsors, a great evening was had by all.

A three-course dinner was followed by the customary speeches, thanking of the tea ladies and the presentation of trophies.

The club would like to thank Wendy Hill for organising a fantastic evening, all those who helped Wendy set up the Village Hall, plus Windsor Catering for providing them with such a wonderful meal.

  • The club’s AGM will be held on October 30 at Over Stowey Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm.

All players to attend and anyone who wishes to be involved please come along - you will be made most welcome.

AWARD WINNERS Clubman - Phil Baker Cricket Netball Dunn (WD) holding up Millfield’s onslaught as much as possible, therefore enabling Darcie Dunn (GS) to sink a few beautiful shots.

Sadly, this wasn’t enough and Saturn ended the game trailing 36 goals to 68.

Neptune 29, Kestrels 49 In the strong morning sunshine, Neptune took to the court with a very different and young line-up.

In the first quarter, Kestrels started the game fully in control and Neptune struggled to keep up, despite some great game play by Neptune attack, finishing the first quarter trailing 5-13.

In the second quarter, a reshuffle saw some solid defending from Julie McClean (GD) and Rebecca Dunn (GK) and with sharp shooting from player-of-the-match Lianne Fothergill (GS), Neptune started to gain momentum.

After the break and with renewed determination, Neptune increased the pressure at both ends of the court, great ball control by Emily Harwood (WD) and Lauren Cook (C) enabled Neptune to keep Kestrels to a draw score line in this quarter with both teams scoring 11 goals apiece.

Sadly, in the final quarter, Neptune couldn’t keep up the momentum and, despite excellent feeding into the circle by Cerys Etheridge (WA), Neptune just could only pick up a valuable point.
