Shepton Mallet 1 Bridgwater Town 5

BRIDGWATER cruised into the third round of the Somerset Premier Cup with a 5-1 demolition of Shepton Mallet on Tuesday night (November 24).

Two goals apiece from Reeko Best and Ollie Chamberlain, and one from Sam Towler ensured the Robins’ safe passage into round three on a difficult pitch.

Bridgwater looked strong early on, enjoying a high percentage of possession.

An early effort from Ollie Chamberlain drifted wide, before Reeko Best slotted home a great goal to give Town the lead.

Bridgwater continued to dominate but against the play, Shepton Mallet equalised through Harry Ritchie.

The second half saw Bridgwater dominate again and they re-took the lead with a goal from Ollie Chamberlain.

A pinpoint through ball saw Reeko slip the ball under the keeper for 3-1 on 76 minutes and Sam Towler made it four after superb run from George Sinnott and a deft cross into the box.

A fine individual goal from Chamberlain rounded off proceedings, as he turned four Shepton players before applying a sublime finish.
