QUAYSIDE Trampoline and Gymnastics Club kicked off the 2015-2016 regional trampoline and gymnastics competitive season in style with a hoard of medals and some very proud coaches.

The artistic and trampoline gymnastic disciplines were strongly represented with Quayside competitors travelling from Bridgwater and as far afield as Weston-super-Mare and Taunton, to compete at Bath University in both the South West Regional trampoline grades and a new South West gymnastics competition called ‘The Spark’.

In the Spark Gymnastic competition, Quayside’s head artistic gymnastic coach, Julie Kew, took nine young gymnasts who were judged on floor, vault and a conditioning set and all gained top podium medals.

A trio of excited six year-olds performed beautifully in their very first venture into competition, with Evie Royal and Georgie Lattimer winning silver medals and Lola Wallaby confidently bringing home the gold.

In the next age group, level one, eight year-olds Skye Clayton, Maddie Dadden and Jessica Martin all won gold medals whilst Maddie Bradley secured the silver medal.

In the top level two, after stiff competition, eight year-olds Evie Keatley and Isla Barnett both secured silver medals.

Their coach, Julie Kew csaid: “We are thrilled with their results as for most of them this was their very first competition.

“They did themselves and Quayside proud.”

Quaysides Trampoline Gymnasts also had some fantastic results competing again in front of a packed stadium.

The trampoline gymnasts performed their routines, with Mike Oleksiyevets starting the day by winning the gold followed closely by Reuben Thompson and Caitlin Burrows in second place in the youngest seven-eight year old level one group.

In level two Maddison Holloway took the bronze medal in the seven-eight age group, Hannah Dickinson, silver in the nine-ten’s and the gold was taken by Lewis Mellor in the 13 years plus.

In level three the silver medal went to Ty Lloyd in the nine-ten boys whilst there was a clean sweep in the girls nine-ten level four with Talia Macrides, gold, Hannah Hold, silver, Lucy Keith, bronze and the trio winning the Team gold.
