Regional League Two

Jupiter 40 Premier Romans 45

JUPITER suffered a fourth defeat of the season in Regional League Two, going down by five points to Premier Romans on Saturday.

The defeat leaves Jupiter sixth in the table with ten points from five games.

There was little to differentiate the teams in the first quarter as the home side finished slightly ahead 10 goals to eight.

Unfortunately Jupiter forced their passing in the second quarter which led to a number of balls being turned over and enabled Premier Romans to pull away 24-16.

Jupiter made some changes at half-time, which saw them lift their game.

Sammy Kemmish back at GK increased the pressure on the opponents attack, making tips and taking vital rebounds that saw the gap close to 34-29.

Jupiter went into the final quarter knowing they needed a strong finish to the game.

Player of the match Gabby Nardiello stepped up scoring some fantastic long range efforts but Jupiter just missed out on the extra bonus-point losing the game 40-45.

Neptune 32 Abbey 29

NEPTUNE recorded a narrow victory over Abbey on Saturday.

The attack played a strong game with Hannah Setter (GA) and player of the match Lianne Fothergill (GS), who put up a good fight with lots of movement to work it into the circle.

Olivia Shorthouse (WA) and Chloe Trout (C) worked well together and supported all the way down the court, with clear drives and accurate feeding into the circle.

At quarter time Neptune were leading 11-7.

The second quarter saw Neptune fighting to keep the lead going into the second-half 19-14.

In the third quarter, good interceptions from Julie McClean (WD) allowed Neptune to capitalise on the turnovers made, ending the third quarter 26-21.

In the final quarter Juste Mockeliunaite (GK) and Emily Rossiter (GD) applied constant pressure in defence ending the game with a successful win for Neptune at 32-29.
