JOSH Davey has been added to the Somerset squad for their crucial Royal London One-Day Cup match against Yorkshire at Scarborough today.

Scotland international, Davey replaces the injured Jamie Overton, who misses out with a groin injury, while Lewis Gregory faces a late fitness test.

Director of cricket, Matt Maynard insists his side must stop ‘backing off’ when the opposition gets on top and has demanded an improved performance.

He said: “This is a must win game for us - we have played some good cricket but we haven’t got the results in this competition.

“(Against Northants) we backed off when Willey started going and that is something we have to address.

“If people come hard at us we need to go hard into them.

"I would like to see an improvement in this area and we need to fight fire with fire and get a bit more aggressive.”

With three group matches remaining Somerset need to get back to winning ways in the 50 over competition.

On the addition of Josh Davey to the squad, Maynard said: “Josh has done well for Scotland recently and also did well for the seconds last week so he is a good addition to the squad I feel.”

Somerset squad to play Yorkshire at Scarborough today: Jim Allenby (capt), Tom Abell, Alex Barrow, Tom Cooper, Josh Davey, Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Adam Hose, Jack Leach, Craig Overton, Peter Trego and Max Waller.
