BRIDGWATER Swimming Club was back in action at the Taunton Dean Open Meet on Saturday and Sunday (July 11 and 12).

The club was fielding one of its biggest teams at an open meet in recent times, demonstrating the progress the club continues to make.

The club impressed from the off with swimmer’s times tumbling to new personal bests - all the swimmers on day one achieved a personal best in at least one event.

Siblings Alex and Ben Towells both had impressive swims in the 50m Freestyle qualifying for the finals in their respective age groups.

Jazz Forsey also had an impressive swim in the 50m Breaststroke, only just missing out on a place in her age group final despite finishing as the fastest 10-year-old.

Day one also saw Alice Pittey’s first full competitive appearance for the club and she rose to occasion with a brilliant swim in the 50m Breaststroke.

On day two, the club swimmers continued to impress – and more and more times tumbled.

Jazz Forsey was impressing again, this time in the 100m Breaststroke, in which she took the bronze medal.

There were further debuts for Bridgwater swimmers including Lily Ward-Pugh-Jones, and Vienna Bennet, both who had very impressive swims in their first full competitive appearances both in the 50 and 100m Freestyle.

Alex finished the weekend off by qualifying for his second final of the weekend in the 50m Breaststroke.

Bridgwater swimmer of the meet award went to Hannah Bremner, who despite having the busiest weekend of all, remained determined and focused throughout and completed a PB in every event.
