MIKE Rossiter was a cut above the field in last weekend’s Division One medal at Enmore Park.

Rossiter topped the bill with a nett 64/gross 71 – and his round consisted of seven birdies, including two twos, with the only real blips coming on the fifth, with a double bogey and a bogey on the 17th.

With the warm weather and cut back rough there were some impressive scores on the immaculate course.

James Popham was second with Callum Tompkins in third.

In Division two, Michael Saffin took the honours, with Paul Webber in second and Steve Dacosta in third – while Douglas Read won the Division Three medal.

In the Mercedes Trophy, past captain, Paddy Maclennan has progressed through two rounds of the Mercedes Trophy, winning at Weston last Wednesday and yesterday at Bowood in Wiltshire.

He is off to St Georges Hill, Weybridge for the National Final Qualifier at the end of the month.

Angie Bowden and captain elect, Rob Fear, (pictured) were Enmore Park's first winners of Clevedon's Nowle and Thomas mixed open salver on Sunday, with 39 points.

Enmore Park seniors began their July match schedule with a home fixture against local rivals from the Taunton and Pickeridge club.

The early rain showers were over before the match began, but it was the visitors who enjoyed the conditions slightly more than the hosts.

With captain Mike Perry taking another rest, it was Paul Waplington in charge for the second time.

Enmore had three fine outright wins - Max Jameson with Steve Lukins (6 & 5), Derek Kelly with David Pascoe (5 & 4) and David Taylor with Tony Pomeroy (4 & 3) but could only add a half point, gained by Jeff Saunders with Iain Stewart, to the total, thus losing by three and a half points to four and a half.

Enmore Park Seniors continued their July schedule with a trip to the mid-Somerset Mendip Springs course.

Their travelling woes continued as they suffered a comprehensive loss on the tricky course, with only one group of the eight recording a win, namely Peter Sherry with John Earp (4 & 3).

Ray Lukeski with Jim McGuckin registered a worthy half point leaving the home team winners by six and a half to one and a half.
