BRIDGWATER Netball Club rounded off the season with three defeats from four fixtures this weekend.

Mercury were the only winners, beating Blackdown 41-29 thanks to some excellent shooting from Paige Langdon and Leah Davis.

Neptune lost out to Taunton's Quantock, despite showing fantastic spirit to come back hard at their opponents and look to have ended the season in a creditable third place.

Mars suffered a heavy defeat to a higher-placed Monmouth side - player of the match, Emily Harwood (GK) had no chance of reaching the high feeds into the shooter but had moments when she read the game so well, turning over ball.

Saturn lost out in the local derby against Sapphires thanks to a late fight back from the Sydenham side.

SYDENHAM Rubies won a fiercely contested clash with Parkfield by three, thanks to a fine performance from Sammie Brown.

In the defensive end, Carly Martin (WD), Rheanne Lee (GD) and Sandy Hocking (GK) made some brilliant turnovers and interceptions – Rubies sponsored by EDF

Gems were also winners, comfortably beating Hoveleands 57-34
