ENMORE Park’s men followed up their halved match against Lyme Regis last week with their first win of the season on Saturday – a 4½ to 1½ victory at home to Honiton Golf Glub.

B team debutant Viv Dennis with partner Rob Loder recorded the biggest win of the day (6 and 4) while there were also wins for Ian Lane with Paul Martin, Phil Parker with Derek Kelly and Nick Laing with Bob Read.

Derek Bremner with partner Captain Nigel Musgrave-Brown came back from three down with four to play to grab the half point on the 18th.

In the Club Medal and Mercedes Qualifier, the best nett of the day came from Dan Jones in Division Three, whose nett 63 was good enough for a three shot victory over Cecil Blumgart in second and David Selway in third.

Division Two was a close contest with one shot separating the top four.

Brian Puddy was delighted with his nett 71 unfortunately he lost out on prize money to Clive Legg (second) and Nick Johnson (third) who had a better back nine.

Tim Smith was the only player in the division to better par (70) and win the top prize.

Keiron Windsor topped Division One with the best gross (68) and nett (65) after hitting 16 greens in regulation.

Craig Lazenby was back in the prizes in second with a nett 70 even though he caught the heavy rain, third was Keith Miller on a 71.

Keiron (under 10), Cecil (11-18) and Les Nurton (19+) progressed to the next round of the Mercedes qualifier at Oake Manor with the potential to progress to St Andrews.

Jill Simpson fought back from a six on the second hole to shoot a nett 71 and win the Silver Division by five shots, Christine Hannam won the bronze on 74 with Diana Webster runner up on 79.

In the Edward Cup, Paul and Janet Waplington won the foursomes format with a credible 36 points, one better than Paul Henson and Judith Sperring with Jim and June Symcox third on 32.

Overall winner of the Lambert Cup was Heather Saxton with 39 points.

Silver Division was won by Megan Dennett with 36 points, beat Judith Sperring on countback.

The Enmore ladies won 5 - 2 in their interleague match playing Long Sutton at Enmore .
