BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey described his side’s performance as ‘outstanding’ after they came from behind to beat North Leigh 4-2 on Saturday.

Kyle Tooze, Joe Bushin, Ross McNab and Dave O’Hare all scored for Town, who had fallen behind in the first-half – and Fey said he was delighted to come away with three points, to take them past last season’s tally.

He said: “We were outstanding - after a hard week for the club, the game against North Leigh hadn't been mentioned and we were playing a team full of experience and with one of top goal scorers in the league in Jamie Cook, who is on 20 goals.

“The slope and wind in first-half was hard to defend and we gave away a cheap goal.

“Having said that second half we were excellent - Ross Mcnab and Kyle Tooze were brilliant and it's nice as a manager to see them playing with a smile on their face and working hard for the team.

“Bushin came off the bench to score a 30 yard screamer and it wrapped up the day.

“The boys were brilliant and this performance goes down with the Merthyr away and Weston win.

“We have a great young side with seven playing in lower leagues last season - and all have give their all and taken the opportunity.

“The biggest achievement for me now is we have beat last season total points of 53 points and also beat last season 14 wins for season, as were on 15 league wins with six games to play.

“Last season finish of 14th was the highest in six years so this season now I’ve told the lads I want to finish higher than that - which is remarkable when you consider we were favourites to go down and with all the off field problems of last summer.”

Town take on Bishops Cleeve tonight (Tuesday), before facing two tough games, starting with a trip to Taunton Town on Saturday – they then welcome Mangotsfield to Fairfax Park on Easter Monday (3pm KO).

“I'm really looking forward to these two games as all the pressure is on them,” Fey said.

“They are the ones who have signed experienced players from Conference leagues and want to get promoted and we can enjoy the day and try and get a result.
