Bridgwater Ladies 1st 1, Old Bristolians 4

BRIDGWATER slumped to a heavy home defeat at the hands of Old Bristolians on Saturday.

Old Bs started off strong, pushing into the D resulting in their first goal within the first 10 minutes.

Strong defending from the returning Sue Chaplin and Donna Cooper pushed play back into Bridgwater's attacking half, with Bridgwater gaining a short corner resulting in a goal from Donna Cooper.

Old Bs soon returned this and the score at half time was 2-1.

Bridgwater returned strong, winning several short corners, but were unable to convert.

This was also reflected in Bridgwater's defending half, with Old B's winning many short corners.

Bridgwater's defence had to soak up a lot of pressure, before two goals were scored by Old Bs in quick succession - one deflecting off an attackers stick into the far right hand corner of the goal.

Bridgwater are away to Sidmouth & Ottery next week in their final game of the season.

Bridgwater Ladies II 1, Taunton Vale Ladies 5

A DEPLETED Bridgwater side crashed to defeat against local rivals Taunton Vale on Saturday. Another great build-up with Kate England led to Megan Weston having the final touch for Bridgwater's only goal.

Unfortunately the Vale forwards had used their experience and speed to dominate the first half, with the bounce of the pitch getting the better of goalkeeper Sam Hutter minutes into the game.

Brilliant quick passing around the Bridgwater defenders set up too many clear shooting opportunities for Vale and after a much closer second-half, the score finished 5-1 to vale.
