Bridgwater 6, ECV Hornets A 0

BRIDGWATER sealed promotion to the championship in nail biting style with a 6-0 victory over bottom side ECV Hornets A.

Bridgwater went into the final game of the season in third, two behind on goal difference knowing they needed goals to get promoted.

Half way through the half Tom Lott scored from a short corner to make it 1-0 and at this point everyone thought that the floodgates would open.

Half way through the second half there was no further score and it looked like Bridgy may fall at the last hurdle - but then fortunately a glut of goals changed things dramatically.

With good work from the midfield trio of Jenkins, Ash Woolmington and Martin James chances came and Lott scored two more to get his hat-trick, Will Pope bagged a brace and James got one himself with a reverse strike.

Some good interplay from the other forwards Taylor and Pigden meant that the score was to finish 6-0.

A nail biting wait for the PGSOB score to come through followed and when the news came through that they only won 2-0 it meant that Bridgwater 1s had got promoted into the Championship and next season will be playing at a level that they have not played for a very long time.
