WITH the closest finish to a Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League season for many years, all the championship and relegation battles are complete.

The Division 1 Champions are the Castle Club A (Allison Collard 69), who defeated Market A (Karen Purchase 70) at home by 17 pins with half the players involved in the match hitting merit scores.

GWR Club A finished in the runners-up spot ten points behind the champions, beating third-bottom side Market B by 18.

Blake Hall A (Rachel Patten 68) and Market D both won their last matches and finished in joint third spo,t two points adrift of second.

All the bottom three teams lost, which confirms that Sydenham Centre A and the Blake Hall B are the sides relegated to Division 2.

British Flag A (Donna Hodge 69) are the Division 2 Champions with a 17- pin home win over GWR Club B.

Flag have the best record this season in the League, losing just one home game and two away, and were promoted from Division 3 last season as champions along with Bunch of Grapes B.

They are again runners-up this year as their rivals, Lions Club B, with whom they were tying second, lost at home to Commercial Inn B (Gill Greensides 64) who finished a distant fourth behind the Lions.

Again, all bottom three sides lost but the two relegated are Lions Club A and Commercial Inn A.

The teams promoted from the Division 3 are West India House, as the champions, who tied their last match at the Sportsman after being in the lead for most of the game but never more than seven pins in the match between the two sides.

New Foresters A are runners-up, winning at home by 11 against second bottom Maltshovel.

Two points adrift in third spot are Sydenham Centre B (Carol Thornton 68) who won at home against Blake Arms (Julie Coogan 63) by 10.

They were in the lead from the first hand but they must surely rue the fact they gave away two matches as they could not raise a team for two games.
