WESTONZOYLAND’S 3-0 victory over Wembdon in the Rowbarton Charity Cup third round earns them a quarter-final contest against top Taunton & District Saturday League Division 1 side Locomotives.

Their goals were scored by Paul Burrow, Jake Gillard and an own goal.

In the Knockout Cup quarter-final, North Petherton beat favourites Bridgwater Sports on penalties to book a place in the last four, following a 2-2 draw in normal time.

There was no score in the first period and, after 10 minutes and some good work from Hart, a goalmouth scramble enabled Senna Clapp to score and put Pethy in front.

A free header at the far post by the ageing Jason Bale equalised for Sports.

The concentration and confidence seemed to be drained and two minutes later Sports made it 2-1 with the in-form Paul Organ scoring.

Josh Gracie swung in a perfect cross for Pethy’s Jolly to head home unopposed – and both teams pushed for a last-gasp winner but couldn’t find a way through.

The game went straight to penalties and Pethy triumphed 4-2 in the shootout.

In Division 1, Bridgwater Sports bounced back from their cup exit with a 4-0 victory over high-flying Locomotives.

In this top-of-the-table clash, Paul Organ (2) and Matt Stevenson (2) sealed the points for Sports.

In-form North Petherton beat Middlezoy Rovers Reserves 3-0 with Senna Clapp scoring twice and Josh Gracie once.

Wyvern Rangers had a good afternoon beating Porlock 8-0 thanks to braces from James Melhuish and Louis Murrel, Joe Enticott, Rob Woodman, Tom Melhuish all added one each.

Woolavington have closed the gap at the top of Division 2 to just 12 points with three games in ahnd after beating Highbridge Town Reserves 7-0.

Both Josh Crockett and John Higgins scored three-a-piece and Simon Coombs added the seventh.

Bridgwater Sports Reserves beat Tone Youth Reserves 3-1 thanks to two strikes from George Turner and one from Brendan Pope, Steve Reed scoring for Tone.

In Division 4, Galmington Dragons Reserves drew 1-1 with Middlezoy Athletic (see Big Match).

The Gallery Reserves jumped from third to top of the table after a 5-3 away win at Morganians Reserves.

Cameron Robilliard netted twice, Mark Pope, Scott Capel and Josh Ball all added one each – George Weston and Matt Brewer both replied for Morganians.

Bridgwater Wolves and East Bower shared six goals in a 3-3 draw.

Kieran Shevlin scored a fine individual goal after taking on three players before slotting it in the bottom corner to give his side the lead against Sports Colts.

Shevlin then converted a penalty to make it 2-0 before 43-year-old captain Andy Simmons hit a lovely low drive from outside the box and Dan Bidgway also had a great goal after a determined run putting the ball calmly past the keeper.

Ed and Gary Howes got two back for Sports to end the game 4-2 in Hamilton’s favour.
