TRIARDS have moved three points clear at the top of the table after their 43-pin home win over Wanderers in the Quantock Vale Skittles League.

They were 21 pins ahead after the second hand and kept this advantage throughout the match to consolidate their victory.

The results of the other four matches were all decided by single figure winning margins. After their draw last week, Globetrotters needed a win to put them on top again and they started their game at the Cottage leading for the first three hands but Applecrunchers then took the lead and then held the initiative for the next six hands to be seven ahead on the penultimate hand.

The visitors hit a last hand of 41 which meant Applecrunchers only needed 34 to win but they struggled to reach their objective and their score of 36 was just enough to give then victory.

In the local derby at Stockland Club, R and U’s were 30 up after five hands but then Club hit 63 on the next hand to trail by just six and by the ninth hand they were just two down and needed 50 to win.

Despite getting a spare in their last hand, they missed their target and lost by three.

With two hands to go, Dambusters were 31 ahead at the Globe and looked sure of victory but Alley Boys had other ideas and their last two hands were 61 and 55 and they pulled 25. But Dambusters managed to hang on to win by six as Dennis Burge was top of the alley with 101.

Although Outcasts led throughout their game at the Greyhound against Dot’s Gang, they were never more than nine ahead and the Gang kept in touch until a 38-pin last hand allowed Outcasts victory by eight
