Somerset Two

Wells II 0, Morganians 7

MORGANIANS recorded a seventh straight league win with a battling 7-0 triumph at Wells II on Saturday.

With nine first XV players unavailable for this fixture due to work family and illness, Morgs put in a battling display to keep the pressure on the division’s top two.

The organisation of the Morgs’ defence was truly supreme and the tackles themselves were crunching as the sides went into half-time scoreless.

The second half saw the Morganians team really start to attack Wells and the only try of the game came from a pick and go from the base of a ruck 10 metres out, by Royston Grimstead who trundled through a number of defenders to touch down.

This try was converted by Will Hopkins and the remainder of the game saw Morgs rally together as a team and see out the win.

This was a fine team performance by a depleted Morganians squad, notable performances came from Royston Grimstead who ran extremely hard with ball in hand constantly found gaps and bursting through the oppositions defence - Will Hopkins and Sam Bullion and nine and ten respectively directed proceedings and created space.

Stefan Pearce and Phil Curd operating as a fine centre partnership where defensively they were impenetrable and in attack ran fantastic lines either breaking through or creating space.
