“DISAPPOINTING” is how Bridgwater Town manager Richard Fey described his side’s performance after they were thrashed 4-0 by Cinderford at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

The Robins put in a lacklustre performance against the Gloucestershire side, conceding three times in a poor second half display – and Fey has urged his side bounce back when they take on local rivals Taunton tonight (Tuesday).

He said: “I’m disappointed, we started the game well with Karim rounding the ‘keeper and hitting the side netting and Tom Knighton hitting inside of post - and it would have been a different game if we had scored one of those chances.

“Losing Alex Grimshaw to a knee injury didn't help - and while he was off the pitch receiving treatment, they scored right on half time – but in the second half we were very poor.

“Credit to Cinderford as they scored some good goals, but the lads know how disappointed I am after starting the season really well and looking hard to beat - but they’re also disappointed in their own performance.

“I can't put my finger on it because away from home, we’re a different team and been excellent, but the last two league games at home have been poor.

“We were missing big players for us in Tooze (suspended), Allward and Robertson (unavailable) and we tried a different system and it didn't work.

“We need to dust ourselves down and raise our game against promotion favourites and local rivals Taunton at home - who are unbeaten in 17.”

Alex Grimshaw is sidelined with a knee injury and won’t feature against Taunton, while Dean Griffiths is still suspended – Josh Hayward, Harry Horton and Tyne Govier have been promoted from the Reserve team.
