FA Cup Preliminary Round

Bridgwater Town 1, Brislington 0

BRIDGWATER Town booked their place in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 defeat of Brislington at Fairfax Park on Saturday.

Karim Rendell scored the only goal of the game for the Robins, to ensure Brislington would not repeat their heroics of last season, when they reached the fourth qualifying round of the competition.

Rendell was the match winner for Town, firing home from close range in the 24th minute, following neat work from strike partner Tom Knighton.

Brislington fought back with a battling display, but Town’s defence held firm throughout the 90 minutes.

The Robins could have added to their lead in an action-packed second half, but Rendell’s goal proved to be the difference as Bridgwater made sure of their place in the first qualifying round draw.

# Bridgwater Town host Cinderford Town on Saturday (September 6) – kick-off is 3pm at Fairfax Park.

Cinderford sit in 16th place after six games in Calor League South & West, having won just once so far this season.

In contrast, Town find themselves sixth and will be hoping to continue their fine early season form.
