LIAM Kitch’s second successive league century wasn’t enough to prevent Bridgwater A from a suffering a three-wicket defeat to Ashbrittle in Division One of the Somerset Cricket League.

Kitch scored 105 as Bridgwater posted 260-9 batting first, brilliantly supported by A. Hewson (72), but Ashbrittle reached their target with three wickets to spare despite 2-60 from Tim Hill.

Elsewhere in Division One, Middlezoy beat Ilton by 50 runs thanks to 74 from Nathan Barnard.

A. Raja took 4-24 to help Zoy dismiss Ilton for 150 as they fell short of Zoy’s 200-8.

In Division Two, North Newton slumped to a heavy defeat at Watchet after being bowled out for just 97.

A. Jenkins (36) and T. Gadsby (23) top scored for Newton, but they lacked support from the rest of the line-up as Watchet cruised home.

Kilve were beaten by three wickets by Wells despite a good innings of 69 from A. Martin.

Martin’s knock took Kilve to 178, but Wells crept over the line with three wickets to spare, J. Darrell taking 3-31.

N. Ollerenshaw and S. Tinklin combined to carry Mark to a five-wicket victory over Bishops Lydeard IIs in Division Five.

Ollerenshaw (46no) and Tinklin (50) led the charge for their side as they successfully chased 150 to win.

In Division Six, Chilton Polden crushed Purnells by ten wickets thanks to a five-wicket haul from N.

Mogg (5-23). Mogg routed the Purnells top order to help dismiss them for just 90 before J. Ball (47no) and D. Ewbank (30no) saw Chilton home.

W. Pope took 5-26 for Wembdon Wyverns to help them to a 45-run victory over Wells IIs.

Steve Pigden (72no) helped Wyverns post 175-5, while A Rees added 53. Pope was on top form with the ball as Wells were rolled for 130.

Tom Bellinger starred for Spaxton in a 100-run thrashing of Wembdon Academy in Division 8S.

Bellinger scored 83 in Spaxton’s total of 250-9 before D. Court (4-4) cleaned up the Wembdon tail to bowl them out for 150.
