THE West Region PGA TeeUp4Tots Pro Am held last week at Enmore Park has raised a staggering total of £6,729 for two local causes.

Both the South West Branch of CLAPA and the Musgrove Park Somerset Neonatal Intensive Care Unit can now look forward to receiving a sizeable cheque from the fund when the year’s fund-raising reaches its conclusion early in 2015.

More than 30 teams took to the course at Enmore Park last Monday for Regional Captain Andrew March’s Charity Pro Am.

March, now director of Golf at Brean, has long been associated with Enmore Park having played his amateur golf representing the club – and he was delighted when the club agreed to host his big day and his fellow PGA Pros and their teams certainly enjoyed the superb layout presented in excellent condition by Gary Cook and his team.

He said: “We are pleased that everyone enjoyed the event we put on and to raise such an amazing amount of money for our charities was way beyond our expectations.”

Two five under par 66s won the Professional individual event with Dudsbury’s Lee Thompson matching South Cerney’s Ross Langdon’s early pace-setting score.

Former European Tour player John Bickerton, now working at Minehead, and another Dudsbury pro, Mark Wiggett, shared third on 68.

In the team event, an impressive 18 under par total of 124 was the winning number posted by the Dorset team of Tim Norman, Steve Sanger and Chris Brown playing alongside professional Graham Howell from Ferndown Forest Golf Club.

March and Ross would like to thank all the sponsors and donors as well as Enmore Park Golf Club, all its staff and members for allowing them to host the event there where the club’s hospitality on the day was second to none.
