Wembdon II 119-3 beat Frenchay II 118 by 7 wkts

A FINE bowling performance from Mike Watts propelled Wembdon II to a seven-wicket victory over Frenchay on Saturday.

Watts took 4-15 from nine overs with the new ball, as Frenchay slumped to 118 all out inside 34 overs – before Liam Pigden (54no) led the chase with an unbeaten half-century.

After Tom Lott (1-31) had claimed the first wicket of the afternoon, Watts went to work on the Frenchay middle order claiming the next four wickets to fall.

Spinner Alastair Cook (2-41) pitched in, as did Michael Parker (2-19) – and Jack Lowe claimed the final wicket with his very first delivery.

Lott (1) fell early in the chase but George Lowe (21) and Pigden played positively to all but put the game to bed.

Lowe was clean bowled by Stiddard (2-14) and Carwyn Jenkins (15) was trapped in front by the same bowler – but Phil Curd (12no) joined Pigden to see Wembdon to a comfortable win in the 27th over.
