Taunton and District under 15s cup final
Wembdon 98-3 beat Westlands 96-5 by seven wickets
A LARGE crowd crammed into Wembdon to support the under-15s in the Taunton and District Cup final against Westlands of Yeovil.
Wembdon, having defeated Taunton, Taunton Deane and North Petherton to reach the final, were asked to bowl first after losing the toss.
A strong start from Westlands eventually came to an end with excellent spells of bowling from Joel Dunster and Max Sellick, backed up by great fielding and two run-outs.
Westlands reached 96-5 off their 20 overs – a tough score, but given the pitch and conditions slightly below par.
Wembdon lost a wicket early, but Prior (34) and J. Dunster (31) shared a stand of 65 off 11 overs to put them in a good position before Sellick and Hold saw them home for a sevenwicket victory with four overs to spare.
The side now wait to find out who their challengers are from North Somerset for the county final, the winner of which feeds into the ECB national under-15 knock-out competition.
