Bridgwater II 54-1 beat Taunton St Andrews 53 by nine wickets

BRIDGWATER Seconds produced a clinical display with the ball to ease to a nine wicket win over Taunton St Andrews at the Parks.

On winning the toss the visitors were dismissed for 53 on a flat wicket, with the game finishing by 4pm.

Bridgwater started well with Ian Higgins and Chris Singleton bowling a tight early spell, which restricted the scoring to only a single off the first five overs.

Higgins (2-13 off seven overs) is leading the attack well again this season, and he was to pick up the first two wickets in his fourth over as opener Poole and number three Eggbeer were both dismissed by catches off the edge.

There was no let up from Bridgwater as change bowlers Scott Clapp and Matt Habberfield continued the stranglehold with none of the visiting batsmen being able to get a foothold in the game.

Clapp (4-15) and Habberfield (4-12) shared eight wickets as the innings reached a premature conclusion after only 30.3 overs.

Bridgwater started their innings straight away, but lost Witts for a duck in the second over.

This brought the in-form Kyran Devitt to the wicket, as he and the solid Ben Coombes quickly resumed order, seeing their side to a 9 wicket win in only 10.4 overs.

Devitt finished on 34 no and Coombes 19no.
