KIERAN Cosens scored an unbeaten 94 as Wembdon Wyverns cruised to an eight wicket victory over Chard A in Division Seven of the Somerset Cricket League on Saturday.

Cosens’ match-winning knock carried Wembdon past their victory target of 159 with relative ease – and was well supported by S Pigden (28).

Earlier, A Rees (2-22) and K Rawles (2-33) helped restrict Chard to below par total from their 45 overs.

In Division Six, Chilton Polden were beaten by 80 runs by Sparkford.

D Ewbank (3-17) and J Hedges (2-51) were in the wickets as Sparkford posted 200-7 batting first – but Chilton fell well short in reply, as they were bowled out for 120 - despite 37 from C Burrows and 20 not out from R Edwards.

Middlezoy slumped to a heavy 103-run defeat against Bagborough in Division One after being bowled out for just 67.

Chasing 171 to win, Middlezoy were crushed by the Bagborough bowling.

Bridgwater A slipped to a three wicket defeat to Temple Cloud, despite a brilliant all-round display from A Witts.

Witts scored 68 with the bat before taking 3-20 with the ball – but Bridgwater’s first innings total of 149 wasn’t quite enough, as Temple Cloud crept over the line.

In Division Two, Kilve lost to Cheddar by five wickets having been bowled out for 93 batting first.

Elsewhere in the division, North Newton beat Burnham by 56 runs thanks to 3-21 from P Jenkins.

Jenkins, J White (2-12) and C Barrington (2-17) combined to help bowl Burnham out for just 77 – after North Newton had posted 135-8 - A Jenkins (39) and C Barrington (23) top scored.

Mark were thrashed by Weston-super-Mare III by seven wickets in Division Five.

Batting first, Mark were skittled for just 94, a target that proved little trouble for the visitors, who cruised home.
