CRICKET: Somerset entertain Kent in T20 Blast today
9:47am Friday 23rd May 2014 in Sport
SOMERSET will be hoping to get back on the winning trail in this year’s NatWest T20 Blast when they host Kent at the County Ground today (5.30pm).
After beating the old foe Gloucestershire in Bristol last Friday evening Somerset were beaten at home on Sunday by Surrey in a game that they looked well placed to win.
Looking ahead to the Kent match the Somerset’s director of cricket Dave Nosworthy said: “Friday night’s game here is really important because we want to try to make sure that we win all of our home games, but we have got a lot to learn from the two that we have played so far.
“In our first game at Bristol even though we won I don’t think that we got everything right that we wanted to.
“And then on Sunday some of those areas were exposed again, so now this week against Kent we need to put them right and rectify the position.
“Some of those areas in terms of bowling are our disciplines and our areas and batting wise we need to get our tempo and rates going at the right time.
“There is no doubt that we have got full ability and all the lads are quality cricketers, but I think there is always an area for improving.
“Sunday’s game was obviously very frustrating for everybody and nobody likes losing.
“So now we have won one and lost one and so we need to make sure that we jump straight back up on the horse and win this one on Friday night.
“Everybody is really excited and wants to put the record straight and I have no doubt that will happen.”
Yesterday Somerset completed a seven wicket victory over Durham in the LV= County Championship at the County Ground with Marcus Trescothick scoring 133 in the second innings.
A heavy downpour just before lunch threatened to scupper the Cidermen's chances but after a long delay the players got back on the pitch.
