Truro 37, Bridgwater College 66
TEAM BC basketball travelled to Cornwall to comfortably beat their rivals in one of their final matches of the season.
After a warm-up and preparation, Team BC started the game strong, however Truro did also and both teams were evenly matched with the first quarter going slightly in the favour of the home team 11-10.
Team BC stepped up their defence in the second quarter and applied a full court press that resulted in several steals and forced many turnovers from Truro.
This high intense defence limited Truro to only six points for the quarter while Team BC pulled in front, scoring 15.
The Team started the third quarter in a higher gear and Truro couldn’t keep up with the pace of play.
Scholarship student Liam Vickery scored 10 of his 26 points in this quarter and was close to 70% finishing from the floor.
Ali Ham came to life when he realised he could score at will and pull down boards better than anyone else on the court with 12 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench.
Team BC scored a total of 40 points in the second half resulting in a comfortable victory.
Head coach Richard Anderson said: “It was probably our best team performance this season and a massive step forward after a disappointing loss last week to City Academy Bristol.
“The team really concentrated on what they were asked to do and individuals raised their game.
“It wasn’t perfect but our intense defence and high level of finishing was too much for Truro.”
