BRIDGWATER College student Conor Keohane, put in his best rifle shooting performance yet at a junior international competition held in Germany last week.

Conor, 19, from Bridgwater receives a Bridgwater College Sports Scholarship in recognition of his shooting achievements, which helps to fund equipment, ammunition and entry fees.

Conor travelled with the GB Junior Rifle Squad to Oldenburg, where they competed against teams from Germany and South Africa in three events - 10m air rifle, 50m .22 rifle prone and 50m .22 rifle 3-positions (3-P).

He scored a personal best in all three events, adding 26 points to his previous PB in 3-P to take the individual bronze medal.

He also achieved first place in the 3-P team event and third places in air rifle and .22 prone, with team mates Toby Beard, a former Bridgwater College student and club mate, and Dean Bale, from Braunton Target Shooting Club.

Conor, a member of the Sedgemoor Target Shooting Club in Burnham-on-Sea said: “I am pretty pleased with my performance in Germany - three personal bests in an international competition is quite an achievement, and I was delighted to win my first individual medal in a major competition.

"I hope that this will stand me in good stead for a number of UK competitions coming up, starting with the English small-bore championships at Bisley this weekend. I am very grateful to everyone at the College for their support.”
