Bridgwater Mercury: Fey pleased with final day showing Fey pleased with final day showing

BRIDGWATER Town manager described Saturday’s 4-3 victory over Stratford Town as “a great win” as the Robins rounded off the 2013/14 season with three points.

Fey, who last week confirmed he will be staying on as manager next season, praised the efforts of his injury-hit side as they secured their highest league finish in four seasons.

He said: “It was a great win against a team that has been flying. Stratford have the second best goals for in the division, on 103 - and top goal scorer in league, Richard Gregory who has scored 36 - so to keep him quiet, win and score four at home, wrapped up the season on a high.

“The players were excellent and we had players playing with knocks and injured ones playing through it and we fully deserved the win, with Tyne Govier and Jake Mawford excellent.

“It's been a good season but I wanted to finish higher, as I think were better than 14th, but it’s the highest the club has finished in four years so I can't moan too much.

“As for next season, I want to stay and improve on this year as we had a three year plan when I joined the club - but things are going to be tighter with the budget until we find new sponsors or investment to help pay players.

“The budget this season was nowhere near what some clubs are paying players, but we had great cup runs and improved on last season’s finish.”
