Fey satisfied with Bridgwater Town's season

Bridgwater Mercury: Fey satisfied with Bridgwater Town's season Fey satisfied with Bridgwater Town's season

BRIDGWATER Town manager Richard Fey says his side have made a huge improvement on last season, as they gear up for their final league game of the season this Saturday (April 26).

Town welcome Stratford to Fairfax Park for the season's curtain call, and Fey's only complaints from the season have been the lack of opportunities to field a settled side.

He said: “The aim this season was always to improve on last season and we are going to do that with a better league finish.

“We have had a excellent cup run in FA Cup and FA Trophy and brought in ideal revenue from prize money and extra gate receipts.

“The average crowds are up to 190 last season's 145 and we had no Boxing Day fixture which would have only improved that figure.

“My only problem - and I'm big and ugly enough to take it on the chin - is the amount of players I've used over the season. People forget we will play 56 games this season and we have only had nine midweeks free all season - which is a hell of a commitment from everybody at the club.

“Suspensions, injuries and players leaving for one reason or another has made it ten times harder because I couldn't keep a settled side. Going into next season I know what I want and stability is the key.

“Times are hard and we need new investment to help Johnson Metals our main sponsor - we need new advertising boards and another main sponsor to help the club after having so many problems the last few seasons with the weather.”

The Fairfax Park pitch is to have a new drainage system installed at the beginning of May - and any local businesses keen to get involved with the club, one way or another, should contact 07775663139.

All square in the fixtures agains Taunton this season.

Scrappy game yesterday but tidy fiish by Steve Murray.

Karim Rendall played a blinder in the previous game at Fairfax Park with 2 great strikes.

Not much between the sides in the SPC or in the FA Cup game at Fairfax.

No one at the FA Cup game at the Drive will forget the dire referring in a hurray. Spoilt the game completely in terms of football being played.
