LOCOMOTIVES battled their way past league leaders Highbridge Town in the second semi-final of the Rowbarton Cup with a 1-0 victory, a Tom Edwards goal edging the game for Locos.

The final will be played at Taunton Town’s ground on Saturday, May 10.

Tone Youth, from Division 4, and Wiveliscombe, from Division 5, contested the Seward Cup semi-final, and extra time was required to separate them as Tone pinched it 2-1.

The final will be played at Bridgwater Town’s ground on Tuesday, April 15, at 7.15pm.

With other Division One contenders on cup duty, Bridgwater Sports beat Middlezoy Rovers Reserves 3- 1 to go level at the top of the Taunton & District Saturday League table with Highbridge.

Piers Govier scored two of their goals and the ever reliable Matt Fursland the other, while Sam Peppin replied for Rovers.

Rowbarton Cup finalists Sampford Blues continued their good recent form with a 3-1 away win at Alcombe Rovers and Bishops Lydeard put three past Hamilton Hawks.

North Petherton came back from 2-0 down to earn themselves a point at Staplegrove Reserves.

Shane Jolly got a goal back and then Ben Howell scored a superb left-footed strike for Pethy, who took a draw despite missing two penalty chances.

Appletree Tone Youth have extended their lead in Division two to ten points after a 4-0 away win at Watchet, and second placed Wembdon lost 6-2 to mid-table Blagdon Hill.

Dulverton Town had a 4-2 home win over Nether Stowey and Knock-Out Cup finalists Stogursey came back down to earth in their league game against Wyvern Rangers, losing by the odd goal in nine.

Harry Hall was the man on fire for Minehead with his hat-trick being the difference between his side and Hamilton Athletic.

In Division Three, Milverton Rangers closed the gap, albeit to a massive 12 points, after their 3-2 away win at Galmington Dragons, and Bridgwater Sports beat Redgate 2-1.

John Wilde and Rich Meek scored for the Sports, while Jack Hamblin replied for Redgate.

In Division Four, Exmoor Rangers’ hopes of going top of the table at the end of the day were thwarted by Dulverton Town Reserves, who beat them 1-0 thanks to a Lee Hooper goal.

Sampford Blues Reserves stay third after a 2-1 away win at North Petherton Reserves, and the mid-table clash between Williton and Norton Fitzwarren was won by the home side 3-2.

Porlock won a nine-goal thriller away against Woolavington 5-4, and in Division Five Staplegrove Colts stay top despite losing away at Middlezoy Athletic 2- 1.

Danny Russell scored both Athletic goals with Ian Bishop getting the Grove goal.

The two Bridgwater sides, Wolves and Grasshoppers, scored three apiece to share the points.

Dan Saunders scored two of the Grasshoppers’ goals and Shane Thompson grabbed the third.

East Bower beat Creech Cougars 4-0 thanks to two strikes from Jake Anstry, and one from Tom Neale and Aaron Harbour.

Chris McKee scored direct from a 20-yard free kick for Hamilton Athletic Foxes, but it wasn’t enough to earn any points for his side as their opponents, Morganians Reserves, scored four goals with Aiden Tomlinson snatching two, and Tobias Gillard and Andrew James the others.
