THE Quantock Vale Darts Skittles League champions have been decided, but the result was still in doubt until the last ball.

Stockland Club and Globetrotters met at the Greyhound for the playoff and both teams were determined to make the title their own.

As a result, the lead changed hands five times with neither team being more than four pins ahead.

On their final hand, Globetrotters, trailing by a single pin, hit 40 which meant Club needed to tie the hand to win by a pin.

With 34 scored after five hands, last man Charlie Lonsdale needed all three balls to score the requisite number of pins to give Stockland Club victory and the title of Quantock Vale Skittles Champions.

As is the custom, the presentation night will be held at the winners’ home alley, Stockland Club, on Friday, April 25.

The other trophy decided this week was the Jack Chidgey Front Pin Cup held at the Globe Inn between Outcasts and Applecrunchers.

Despite Outcasts being a player short and needing the services of a sergeantmajor, they quickly built up a lead to leave Applecrunchers trailing by 32 at the halfway point and they continued scoring well to maintain an unassailable advantage to win by 100.

The Outcasts went across the board without scoring a duck.

Results: League Champions play-off – Stockland Club 406 (N. Chidgey 75), Globetrotters 405 (J. Rich 79).

Jack Chidgey Front Pin Cup – Outcasts 440 (D. Kunc 84), Applecrunchers 340 (J. Priest 84).
