Tone 43, Sydenham Rubies 48

RUBIES were slow to start, allowing Tone to lead for the first five minutes, howeve,r quickly got their game together and pulled back to lead 15-9.

Kerry Clark and Steph Riordon playing up slotted in well to the Rubies team.

Good defence by Jess Knott and Laura Coombes kept Tone shooters fighting for the ball which enabled Rubies to keep their lead 26-21 at half time.

In the third quarter, Rubies struggled with their passing, allowing Tones to catch up and pull level but Rubies pulled their socks up and again settled pulling away to lead at the end of the third quarter 37-33.

Tone’s shooters were consistent throughout and the whole game was evenly matched, however, with Mikki Hole and Steph Riordon making excellent passes into the circle to enable shooters Abi King and Lynne Cornish to keep scoring, Rubies were able to hold their lead.

Player of match and umpires’s vote went to Steph Riordon.

Sydenham Ambers 49, Garnets 4

AMBERS started strongly against Garnets and went up 15-1 in the first quarter thanks to excellent play throughout the whole team.

Ambers kept up the lead throughout the whole game resulting to a good win 49-4.
